Annual Dinner & Prize Presentation
Saturday 6th February 2010 at Stockbrook Manor Country Club.

Club dinners - you either like them or hate them until you have been to a Shaftesbury dinner and prize presentation. Then you will know that it is one of the best, if not the best. With the beautiful surroundings of Stockbrook Manor, the best venue of any club's dinner, the excellent five-piece band and singer to dance to or just sit and listen to, a guest speaker, you have to have an enjoyable evening.

The 121st Shaftesbury Dinner followed the usual format of an excellent dinner followed by several speeches and then the prize presentation to all our award winners organised by Lily

This year we were down on numbers due to various reasons and at least four prize winners could not make it. However, due to the excellent and friendly staff and the good company it was a total success. After chairman Big Tel had welcomed the ladies and visitors, long distance rider Lynne Taylor, who was our guest speaker, entertained us with the hardships en route in her Lands End to John o'Groats record ride. Then, after a short speech and a joke from our President followed by the awards ceremony, it was on to the dance floor to boogie the night away

Judging by all the nice compliments, a pleasant night was had by all.

New Members' Section
A new section has been added to the website and is available to Club members only. The contents include the Club database and other material which is really private to Club members and shouldn't be available to the whole world wide web. To enter the section you will need to register and this can be done by clicking on Login in the left hand menubar.

Warning - Stolen Manhole Covers
A number of local riders have reported that manhole covers are being stolen for scrap metal, leaving open holes in the road. Clearly this causes a great hazard should a cyclist hit one of these holes. Please take care out there and should you see one missing then report it to the local Council in order that it can be replaced.

Alert - Stolen Bikes
Will all Club members please be aware of a recent spate of bikes being stolen in Essex from outside pubs/cafes whilst Club Run's are taking refreshment inside. Either padlock the bikes or keep them in sight, preferably both. Alternatively don't stop and just keep riding!

On Line Facilities

Entries for Club Events
You can enter Weekend events and Evening 10's via our On Line entry forms. Click here and then select event to enter.

Result Notification
All Shaftesbury riders are required to notify the Time Trial Secretary of their results in Open and Association events. This is so that winners of Season long competitions can be determined as well as Club records. It also makes it possible to give correct handicaps in Club events. Additionally, the information can be made available on this website so others can read of your successes. To give all visitors to the website the latest details of time trial and road race successes, please send in results for all your races (except Club events) with your time or placing, other Club members' results and the winners details.
Click here to send in details.

On-line Road and Circuit Race Entry Form
The Program has now been updated for the latest British Cycling version and you can print out your own Personalised Entry Form straight from the Web. Please try it out by clicking here and let me know what you think. Remember you will be storing the details in a cookie for use in the future.
